Now that the weather is nice and warm your pet may enjoy sunbathing outdoors. Not only does your pet enjoy the warm weather, but so do fleas and ticks. Talk to your vet about flea and tick prevention before these pests get in your house. There are a variety of options including collars, medication and herbal remedies.
Some signs your pet may have fleas are seeing flea dirt in your pet’s coat, your pet licking, scratching or biting at their skin, hair loss, or scabs. Once you see a flea they are already in your house. If you do see signs of fleas talk to your vet about ways to kill both the fleas and their eggs. Immediately clean your house by washing any bedding and vacuum carpet and upholstery. Run a flea brush through your pet’s hair at least once a day and wash their bed once a week.
Having fleas is no fun so be proactive before they become a problem.
