Turkey and Thanksgiving go together like Mom and apple pie. You just can't have one without the other! But after a while, you can get too much of a good thing. Roast turkey, turkey soup, turkey pot pie, turkey sandwiches—where does it all end?!
When you have visiting relatives, it's smart to serve easy foods that are convenient enough that everyone can fix their own lunches. Stop by the Super 1 Foods deli and pick out some non-turkey options to make your holiday entertaining easier. Besides turkey, we have ham, beef, pastrami, bologna, salami, cheese and a large selection of prepared salads, soups and other dishes. And if you didn't get enough turkey on Thanksgiving, relax: we have honey baked turkey, mesquite smoked turkey, oven roasted turkey and sun dried tomato turkey—just to name a few.
Need some ideas for deli delights to take your mind off turkey? Try these:
Open Sesame
A sesame bagel piled with deli roast beef, onions, portabella mushrooms, fontina cheese, horseradish mayonnaise and sprinkled with toasted sesame seeds. Serve open-faced, of course.
Risky Business
A hollowed French loaf stuffed full of ham, sauerkraut, Gruyere and Swiss cheeses, chopped tomatoes, red onions and Russian dressing
Veg Head
Sun-dried tomato bread and lean roast beef beneath a bed of cucumber slices, tomatoes, sprouts and radishes topped with creamy dill dressing
Honey-Roasted Wrap
Spread a large flour tortilla with cream cheese and then load it up with sliced honey-roast ham, Colby Jack cheese, shredded lettuce and sliced tomatoes. Wrap tightly and slice in one-inch pieces.
