BGC Donates More Than 37,000 Pounds of Food

BGC Donates More Than 37,000 Pounds of FoodBGC donated more than 37,000 pounds of food, which will provide more than 31,000 meals, to the East Texas Food Bank for Hunger Action Month on September 16.

Approximately 50 of the company’s supermarkets in east Texas join the food bank and KLTV in Tyler, Texas, in a food and fund drive to last until September 30.

The stores have assembled $5 and $7 “grab-bags” of groceries that customers can purchase and donate to the cause. There will also be $1 and $5 scan cards at the registers. Customers can add an amount to their grocery bill and that money will also go to the food bank to purchase food.

Every dollar donated to the East Texas Food Bank helps provide eight meals. And food bank officials say in east Texas one in four children are at risk of hunger, and one in five adults are at risk of hunger.
