BGC Employees Recognized For Giving
Brookshire Grocery Co. was recognized, along with a number of businesses and organizations, on Thursday, March 11, at the United Way of Tyler/Smith County’s Victory Celebration.
BGC was recognized as a Cornerstone Sponsor for raising more than $75,000 for the United Way, which supports 25 partner agencies in east Texas. Retail and non-retail employees of BGC in the Tyler area raised a little more than $50,000 in pledges, and the company will match those contributions, dollar for dollar.
The United Way group in Tyler raised $1.75 million in pledges in the 2009 drive. It receives most of its funding through voluntary employee participation in company payroll deduction programs, and supports agencies such as the Literacy Council, Goodwill, Boys & Girls Clubs, 4-H, YMCA, and many others.
