BGC truck drivers capture state awards

BGC truck drivers capture state awardsBrookshire’s truck driver Alan Worster from Monroe, La., will be competing on the national level for the fourth time in his career when he travels to Orlando, Fla., in August.

Worster beat out nine other drivers in the 3-Axle category at the Louisiana Motor Transportation Association’s state truck driving championships held recently in Baton Rouge. Out of eight categories in the state competition, Worster earned the highest score and was named grand champion of the event.

Other Brookshire’s drivers from the company’s Monroe distribution center who received awards include: Gary Tyler, 2nd place, Sleeper; Dan Pereira, 3rd place, 4-Axle; Huey Davenport, 3rd place, 5-Axle Van; and Brian Brown, 3rd place, Flatbed.

Drivers were judged on a pre-trip inspection, course test and written test. They received trophies for winning.

“We’re thrilled to have a driver compete in nationals and know Alan will represent the company very well once again,” said Don Gilbreath, vice president-transportation logistics. “We’re fortunate to have a team of drivers who rank up there with the very best when it comes to safety, skill, and professionalism. We congratulate them all on a job well done.”
