Cinco de mayo—May 5—is such a fun holiday for children, because one of the main focuses is eating! If your child enjoys fixing foods that really grab attention, then this is a perfect one to try. And depending on your child's age and skill level, you can help them produce a fabulously delicious and colorful finished product.
If your child is very young, you might be wise to pre-cut the various ingredients, place them in individual bowls, and let your child do the layering. Older, more-skilled children can use a plastic knife to slice most of the ingredients safely.
Layer the ingredients in the order given, and then stand back and wait for the oohs, aha andoles!
