Cleaning Up Broken Glass

Cleaning Up Broken Glass

Glass breaks. It happens. Don’t panic, though; clean it up and keep everyone safe. The first step towards cleaning up glass is to make sure everyone’s out of the way.

If you have small children or pets, don’t shriek and draw attention to the glass; instead, just direct their energies to another area of the house.

Never pick up broken glass with your bare hands, or approach it with your bare feet. Carefully sweep it into a dust pan, wrap it in newspaper and throw it out

.

To pick up tiny slivers of glass, wipe all around the breakage area with a wet paper towel or a dampened cotton ball.Once you think you have all the shards cleaned up, crouch down and shine a flashlight beam across the surface of the floor. Any leftover pieces of glass will sparkle in the light.
