Diabetic Diet TipsOne of the key elements to a diabetic diet is to eat natural, healthy foods. Talk with your doctor or dietician to set up the ideal plan for you, but these are some suggestions for maintaining a healthy diet and lifestyle:

 

            • Choose whole grains: bran cereal, brown rice and whole wheat pasta.
            • Bake with whole grain flours
            • Choose whole fruits over juices, since they have more fiber.
            • Make sure all beverages have no added sweeteners.
            • Purchase fresh or frozen vegetables without added sauces, fats or salt.

             

             

  • Trim all visible fat from meat, and bake, roast, broil or grill instead of fry.
  • Make your dairy products low-fat or nonfat ones.
  • Choose heart-healthy spreads for your bread.
