Drive Down Your Car Costs
Your home may be your biggest expense, but most likely, your car is the next highest cost you deal with.
Why not take the time to be sure that large investment retains its value?
Here are some life-extending tips for your automobile:
- Slow down. Driving 10 mph above 65 is like adding 74 cents to the price of a gallon of gas. The bigger your car, the gas you use.
- Take care of your tires. Rotate tires every six months to distribute wear evenly. Check the pressure when tires are cold to improve fuel economy.
- Change oil on schedule. Most newer cars need the oil changed every 5,000 to 7,000miles. Don't go too far beyond the suggested interval and don't rush to change oil before it's needed.
- Watch those little lights. Those warning lights on your dashboard are there for a reason. Read your auto manual to know what the icons and messages mean. Some can signal serious trouble.
