Family Day

Family DayFamily time is very important in the development of children. It is important not only to spend quality time as a family but it is also important to eat as a family.

With today’s busy schedule children end up eating in the car between school and soccer practice or no one actually sits down at the table to eat together.

A lot of the time at the dinner table is spent on watching television; next time you are eating dinner turn off the T.V. and talk to your kids about their day.

A way to get conversation started is to ask everyone at the table to talk about one thing that made them smile that day.

Not only is eating together as a family important for children emotionally but it also helps children learn to maintain a healthy lifestyle. When children eat most nights of the week at home with a home cooked meal they are more likely to make healthier choices as they get older.

Always exposing your children to healthy food choices by having vegetables at the table will help them choose healthier choices when they are older. When parents live a healthy lifestyle, that healthy lifestyle is reflected onto the child.

With Family Day coming up on September 27th plan a dinner and game/movie night with your family.
