Fat Substitutions
Fat can be found in a lot of places when cooking.
Here are some ways you can substitute for a healthier alternative. It will take a little trial and error, but once you find what you like, write it down and stick with it.
Replace the oil called for in a recipe with applesauce.
Try plain low-fat yogurt in place of sour cream.
Buttermilk or reduced-fat 2% milk are great substitutes for whole milk and cream.
Sautee vegetables and meat in broth, apple juice or flavored vinegar instead of butter, margarine or oil.
Simply reduce the amount of butter or margarine you put in a recipe.
