Five Great Ingredients to Keep On Hand
Around this time of year, parties suddenly happen. People drop by. December's a busy month, so it pays to plan ahead with a few fail-safe ingredients.
Come to think of it, this is a good plan to have for all 12 months!
Here are a few suggestions for staples that you may want to always keep at the ready.
1. Fresh fruit: keep it handy (in a bowl, on the counter, or in the front-view of the fridge) and you'll be more likely to reach for it).
2. Oatmeal: whole grain and excellent fiber source.
3. Canned beans: great source of fiber and protein. Add to stir fries, pasta, salads and burritos.
4. Frozen veggies: simple and fast to use.
5. Fresh and dried herbs: add flavor without fat and calories.
