Going Green—One Step at a Time
Going green doesn't have to be all or nothing. Here are some small, manageable steps.
Take just one less car trip per week and you'll keep about 31 pounds of carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere.
Buy locally grown, organic produce when possible.
Switch to compact fluorescent bulbs; they use 75 percent less energy and last 10 times longer tan standard bulbs. You'll save $30 or more on your electric bill for each bulb over its lifetime.
Buy in bulk and avoid individually packaged items.
You'll help reduce the nearly 80 million tons of waste from packages and containers, created each year in the US.
And here's perhaps the easiest one of all: go with reusable bags instead of paper or plastic. They hold more, they last longer, they're recyclable and washable...and every time you bring them with you to the store, you'll get a 5-cent credit for each bag.
Going green is a smart thing, but this is a no-brainer!
