Household Sponges

Household SpongesHave you ever thought about where the germs are in your kitchen? Don't forget about your handy kitchen sponge! The porous damp surface is the perfect place for bacteria to grow, and even more so if you wipe up meat and poultry juices.

Wash the sponge often with soap and hot water, and regularly toss it in the dishwasher to sanitize it. Clip it to the top rack with a close pin or a chip clip.

You can also microwave a damp sponge to kill germs, but be careful. After 90 seconds on high, it'll be hot!
