Hunger Action Month
Our East Texas stores will support the East Texas Food Bank for Hunger Action Month by collecting donations of non-perishable food and by assembling, displaying and selling $5 and $7 grab-bags of groceries, all of which will go to this food drive typically conducted in September each year.
The mission of the East Texas Food Bank is to reduce hunger by providing food, support and education to those in need with passion and efficiency. Since 1988, the East Texas Food Bank, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, has provided food to over 200 partner agencies, in an effort to feed children, the working poor and seniors throughout 26 counties in East Texas. In 2010, 19.5 million pounds of food wasdistributed to hungry East Texans equaling 15 million meals. One in four children, one in five adults and one in seven seniors in East Texas are "at-risk of hunger.”
