Inexpensive Steaks
Kind of sounds like an oxymoron, doesn’t it? Cheap beef? Aren’t steaks always expensive? Well, here’s some good news.
As I was browsing the American Beef Council website (nutritionists do that sort of thing all the time), I saw their article on which cuts of meat work best for specific cooking methods. And then they broke them down by price!
So….for pan searing, boneless shell sirloin (also known as top sirloin or top butt) is the best deal. If you’re grilling, flank steak and skirt steak are awesome deals. They’re the typical choice for fajitas.
The nice thing about these choices is that they’re all budget friendly. The key to any of these cuts remaining tender and juice is to cut in very thin strips, across the grain. Overcooking also makes for tough steaks.
