It’s As Easy as Boiling Water!
Sometimes the easiest things are harder than you think!
Do you really know how to bring a pot of water to a boil?
See the tips below to do the best job possible:
- Use a pot with a snug-fitting lid.
- Cover the pot to create pressure between the lid and the water. It also prevents heat from escaping—so water will boil faster.
- Water heated in a short, wide pot will reach boiling faster than a tall, narrow pot.
- Once the water boils, the temperature will remain relatively constant. Depending on what you’re cooking, you can lower the heat to reduce energy consumption, while maintaining the boil.
- Use high heat. Water reaches a full boil when a steady stream of large bubbles break on the surface. A simmer is when bubbles just quiver and steam as they rise.
