Jett receives Distinguished Award

Jett receives Distinguished Award Bill Jett, a 30-year employee of BGC and fleet manager in Tyler, has received the 2011 Distinguished Award for Excellence in Maintenance from the Texas Motor Transportation Association’s Maintenance Council.

Jett was selected by the council because of his knowledge of truck and trailer fleet maintenance and leadership in the industry. Only one winner is chosen for the entire state of Texas. Jett has attained the director’s level in maintenance—the highest level possible—through TMTA after completing an intensive multi-year qualification and interview process.

On July 27, officials with the TMTA annual conference will present Jett a plaque at the Hyatt Regency Lost Pines near Bastrop, Texas. On October 27, the group’s Maintenance Council will present Jett a winner’s jacket and ring at Inn of the Hills in Kerrville, Texas.

“This is a major accomplishment for Bill and BGC,” said Don Gilbreath, vice president-transportation logistics. “Our fleet is maintained and operated at the very best level in our entire industry—due in large part to Bill’s leadership.”

A manager actively engaged in fleet maintenance of five or more units and whose company is a member of TMTA is eligible for selection, but none can win the award more than once.
