Keep Pets Warm

Summer heat is dangerous for pets, but so is winter cold! Don't leave your dog or cat in the car when you travel. The temperature in cars quickly drops when the heat is off. An animal left in the car could die. And even though it's cold, the sun shining through the windows of a closed automobile can create a lot of heat. Animals can die of the cold and of the heat in the wintertime.

At home, if your dog is a shorthaired breed, make sure it has a warm coat or sweater when going for a walk. Keep cats inside when it's cold, since their fur is often thinner. And all pets, regardless of their daily habits, need to be brought in out of the weather when temperatures are extreme.

A pet is a member of the family, and family members deserve good care, no matter what the weather's like.
