Kids School Lunches

Kids School LunchesSummer is winding down and school is about to start up. Can you believe school is starting again?

Each year you have to decide if your child will have a school lunch from the cafeteria or will they take their own lunch from home. Here is an easy set up to help get a lunch together for your kid to take to school.

First, make a menu with different options of sandwiches. You can have a section where they pick their breads, cheese, toppings, and what they will put in the sandwich.

Then have a bowl of ready to eat fruit in the refrigerator ready for them to grab to add to their lunch bag. Also in the refrigerator, have a bowl of chopped up vegetables like bell pepper, carrots, and celery in a zip top bag for them to grab to put in their lunch bag.

If your children are young you may want to make the sandwich for them but allow them to pick out the vegetable and fruit they would like to take in their lunch. The key to a successful packed lunch is to plan ahead.Allow your child to pick the sandwiches in advance, so you know what to get at the store that week.

Another thing is on Saturday or Sunday evening get all the fruits and vegetables ready for the week. This system will help with those chaotic mornings!
