How do they do that?

Magic Valentine Puffs How does a flat piece of dough turn into a puffy pillow of pastry? It's easy to just call it magic, but really, the secret is frozen puff pastry dough. It's made of dozens of layers of dough and butter, and when baked, it bubbles and puffs into a surprisingly light and airy treat.

You can buy puff pastry in the freezer section of the grocery store, usually near the other frozen baking supplies, like pie crusts. Thaw puff pastry before using, and if you want to control the puffing, you can prick the dough with a fork to deflate it. But really—why would you want to do that, when the puffs are what is so special in the first place?

Here is a fun and easy puff recipe for Valentine's Day. Adults need to supervise with the oven, but the cutting and decorating are fun for everyone!
