Never Put This in a Dishwasher
Dishwashers wash dishes. But not all dishes. Some materials don't stand up to the high heat, humidity and abrasive action.
Here's the no-no list, when it comes to dishwashers:
- Fragile glassware: it could chip. High heat and detergents could cause tiny scratches.
- Hand painted china: The finish may come off.
- Sterling silver. High temperatures can strip the patina.
- Wood: it can warp and split.
- Cast iron. It can rust.
- Tin cups. They can rust.
- Thin plastic. It can melt.
- Read the bottom of the container for a warning.
- Dishwashing liquid. The liquid meant for hand-washing liquid will over-suds your machine.
