New Uses for Aluminum Foil

New Uses for Aluminum FoilWe’ve all covered a casserole or wrapped leftovers with aluminum foil. But, did you know that there are many practical uses for that old kitchen staple? Some don’t even involve cooking!

            • Aluminum foil is great for getting rid of tough, stuck-on messes. Ball it up and use it on the grill or on baking pans.

            • Line your cookie sheets and baking pans with foil to cut your cleaning time. You can just throw the foil away when you’re done.
  • Grill veggies in a foil packet or steam them in the oven.
  • When your scissors get dull, cut through about 7 sheets of aluminum foil and they are sharp again in no time!
  • Wrap doorknobs and hardware in foil to protect them when you are painting. It’s better than taping because it molds to a specific shape and shields the entire piece from paint splatters.
  • Take the wrinkles out of clothes that can’t take direct heat, such as rayon, silk and wool. Place a piece of foil under the garment and pass the iron three inches above the garment several times. This will steam the wrinkles right out.

Remember, you can recycle your old aluminum foil with your aluminum cans!
