Oven-Baked Bacon

Save the splatters!

Oven-Baked BaconNothing beats the flavor of bacon, but ask anyone who cooks it, and they'll tell you that bacon is very messy. The grease splatters cover the stove and countertop.

There's a way around that challenge, though: cook your bacon in the oven, microwave or conventional oven, and you'll avoid the messy splatters!

In the conventional oven:

Preheat your oven to 400° F. Line a cookie sheet with edges or baking pan with heavy-duty foil. Arrange the bacon on the pan, side-by side, being sure not to overlap the pieces. Bake the bacon for 10-15 minutes for thin-cut, or until desired doneness. For thick bacon, add another 4-6 minutes.

Carefully remove from the oven, drain on paper towels, and use.

In the microwave:

Line a microwave-safe plate with microwave-safe paper towels (read the label!). Arrange six bacon slices on them, side-by-side but not overlapping. Cover with another sheet of paper towel. Heat the bacon for 4-6 minutes on high, checking after 3 minutes. Rotate the plate after three minutes so the bacon cooks evenly.

Remove the bacon from the plate it cooked on and let stand on fresh paper towels for 2-3 minutes so it can firm and finish cooking. Then it's ready to use.
