It’s “sweet 16” for BGC’s transportation team

Truck Driver Mike Savana from Brookshire’s Monroe Distribution Center recently became the company’s 16th driver to reach 1 million miles without an accident.

Savana hit the mark May 17 on Interstate 20 at mile marker 93 near Choudrant, La.

An 18-year employee, Savana joined BGC as a warehouseman at the company’s Monroe Distribution Center before becoming a truck driver in 1994.

“Mike joins an elite group of drivers who are the best of the best, achieving 1 million continuous miles without a preventable accident,” said Don Gilbreath, vice president – transportation logistics. “There is no more important responsibility of professional truck drivers than the ability to perform their duties safely. Mike has shown that he is unquestionably at the top of his profession.”

Savana will receive a specially designed million-mile ring, and his portrait will be on display at the corporate office in Tyler with the other million-mile drivers.
