Simple Special Diet

Heart disease is the number 1 killer in America. Here are some simple substitutes to lower your risk for heart disease:

  •  If you drink a glass of milk each morning try to reduce the fat content of your milk. You don’t have to jump from whole milk to fat free milk, but try 2% and then try skim.
  • Who doesn’t love cheese? Like milk try to reduce the fat content of your cheese. Get your favorite cheese, but get 2%!
  • Sour cream is delicious on a baked potato and can make a delicious, creamy dip. Try using Greek yogurt in the place of sour cream.
  •  Instead of cooking with solid fat, like butter, cook with oils, like canola and olive oil.
  • If you’re a baker, no need to give up your occasional muffin or bread. Use unsweetened applesauce or mashed pumpkin in the place of oil and butter in your muffin, bread and cake recipes.
