Smoothies—Quick, Affordable and Healthy!Have you ever paid six dollars for a smoothie from one of those fancy coffee and fruit drink bars? You can make the same thing at home for a fraction of the cost.

 

Smoothies are easy and endlessly customizable. How can you lose? It starts with a blender. Throw in a cup or so of frozen fruit—any kind, and the measurements don't need to be precise. Our March recipe uses frozen strawberries. Next, add a liquid, and in our case, we're using thawed frozen orange juice concentrate.


Blend these together, and if you want a creamier smoothie, add in a container of low-fat yogurt. Now how easy was that?

 

The sky's the limit when it comes to smoothies. How about frozen pineapple and mango, with lemonade? Perfect for summertime, don't you think?
