Superfruit
Amazing, healthy fruits!

One of the biggest food trends, still in its infancy, is the "superfruit" trend. Current stars being added or used in teas, other beverages, cereals, and food products include:
- Noni
- Acai
- Mangosteen
- Goji berry
Do these names sound unfamiliar to you? You're not alone. Many of the superfruits that companies are promoting are found outside of the U.S.A….often in rain forests. In time, though, you'll hear more and more about these amazing foods. After all, just a few years ago, pomegranates were considered exotic!
Of course, blueberries, cranberries and pomegranates also rank as good sources of anti-oxidants and expect to continue to see them in foods and beverages. Prepare to hear about newcomers yumberry and yuzu. Other big trends:
- Eating specific foods for their satiety factor (fiber reigns supreme)
- Omega-3 rich foods
- Organic foods
- Ethnic foods with newcomers -Somalian, Ethiopian, Korean.
Rule of thumb is to eat these superfruits in their natural state when possible in order to absorb all the nutrients they offer.
