Thanksgiving Leftovers? Perfect!
Just because the guests have gone home and you’re tired of turkey doesn’t mean you have to throw all those leftovers away!
Christmas is right around the corner and if you’re like most people, you’ll serve some of the same great dishes again.
If you package things just right, you can store those goodies and use them again at the next big meal.
In order to get the best results, you have to start with the right tools. Waxed paper, foil, and freezer bags are about all you’ll need.
You can find all these supplies conveniently at your local Super 1 Foods.
- Freezing meat can be tricky. If it’s thawed completely, you need to cook it before freezing. Wrap the meat in foil or waxed paper and place in a freezer bag.
- Freezing soups in individual portions is easy. Just pour the desired amount into a quart-sized freezer bag and stack to freeze flat. Once frozen, you can stack or “file” these soups in your freezer the most space-efficient way.
- Breads can be wrapped in foil and frozen. Be careful to seal it completely to prevent freezer burn.
- Be sure to label all your leftovers with the items name and the date it was cooked. It’s easiest to write on freezer bags when they are empty and flat.
