Yummy Lincoln Logs
Do your children know what Lincoln Logs are?

When you talk about President's Day with your child, Abraham Lincoln's story is a fun one to tell. You can talk about how he read books by a coal oil lantern and how he walked miles to school every day. And because he was born and raised in a log cabin, you can invite your child to help you make Lincoln Logs to celebrate President's Day!
You can make this recipe super-simple by purchasing ready-made cupcakes, or you can make cupcakes in advance (and frost with your child) or do the entire project as a team.
Lincoln Logs
A Brookshire's Best Recipe
Ingredients:
12 chocolate or Devil's Food cupcakes, unfrosted—from a mix, from scratch or from the bakery, with baking papers removed
2 (16-oz each) cans chocolate cake frosting
Directions:
For each log, take two cupcakes and place them end-to-end, with the rounded side facing out. Put a dollop of frosting between the two cakes to stick them together.
Frost the outside of the cupcakes, leaving the rounded ends unfrosted.
Use a knife or a toothpick to create wood grained appearance on the outside of the logs.
Place each Lincoln Log on a tray and serve!
You can also make cupcakes in mini-muffin pans for smaller logs.
