September is the Month to Eat ChickenCelebrate, chicken lovers. September is National Chicken Month. For over two decades, the National Chicken Council has banded together U.S. poultry growers to promote chicken, turning a once slow month, as the summer grilling season waned, into one of the year’s best performing sales periods.

The NuVal® Nutritional Scoring System, found in all Super 1 Foods, can help shoppers find the right cut of chicken for barbecuing, roasting, baking or grilling. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Dietary Guidelines encourages consumers to eat chicken, which is low in saturated fat.

  • Three ounces of chicken (without skin) has about 25 grams of high-quality protein.
  • Dietary protein in chicken plays a crucial role in muscle and bone maintenance.

Naturally low in sodium, chicken is a versatile ingredient or entrée, and it can be served hot or cold. The National Chicken Council’s Eat Chicken website has everything at-home chefs need, including recipes for every occasion, cooking tips and official gear.
