Veteran’s Day Cookout – Partners from the Monroe Super 1 Foods cooked gumbo, boudin balls, sausage on a stick and various other appetizers and desserts for area veterans at Chennault Aviation and Military Museum in Monroe. Over 200 attended the event.

DSAA’s Buddy Walk – Partners from the Super 1 Foods Louisville Ave. location joined with partners from other local Super 1 Foods locations to cook and serve breakfast for participants in the annual DSAA Buddy Walk celebrating Down syndrome Awareness Month which promotes acceptance and inclusion of individuals with Down syndrome. They volunteered for a combined 72 hours.

Race for a Forever Home 5K and 1K Run /Walk – Ten partners from the Super 1 Foods Louisville Ave. location helped set up tents and tables, registered and organized participants, passed out water and snacks to runners and walkers at this event which raised money for the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services.

Krewe of Janus Mardi Gras Parade – One partner volunteered to walk with the Roe City Rollers in the Mardi Gras Parade. This partner volunteers his time to announce at Roller Derbies and they have asked him to walk with him in the parade to show his support.

PAWS Mardi Gras Pet Parade – Partners volunteered to give away PAWS dog treats, water and goodie bags as the 2015 Krewe of PAWS Pet Parade for seven hours.

American Heart Association Heart Walk – Six partners volunteered to pass out bananas and water to participants during the Heart Walk for four hours. All proceeds benefited the American Heart Association.

Cook Out for Veteran’s Day – Partners from the West Monroe and Monroe Super 1 Foods locations cooked gumbo, sausage and roasted corn for Veterans and volunteers at Chenault Aviation Museum on Veteran’s Day. They served approximately 200 Veterans.

Trick or Treating – Partners invited Mini Scholars Child Development Center’s Pre-K class to come and trick or treat at the Oaks and St. Joseph Nursing Homes in Monroe. The children arrived dressed in their costumes and sang songs and trick or treated, hugged and mingled with the residents at each facility. The store provided the candy for the residents to give out and volunteered for four hours.

Valentine’s Surprises – Eleven partners assembled and handed out Valentine goodie bags and carnations to residents at two local nursing homes. This project brightened the day of 250 residents, as well as their families and their caregivers.

Highland Elementary Fall Festival – A group of partners helped set up for the festival and blew up balloons. Another group came later and worked at assigned booths. They gave out candy and prizes to over 200 kids. This was a community wide event to help the school raise money.

American Heart Association Walk – The annual walk is held at Forsythe Park. Partners handed out water, bananas and granola bars to the participants of the Heart Walk. They volunteered for 28 hours.

Northeast Louisiana Food Bank Fill A Trailer – Brookshire’s and Super 1 Foods “Fill-A- Trailer” Campaign teamed with the Food Bank of NE Louisiana. Each location had pre-bagged canned items that could be purchased and they also took monetary donations.

Rhythm of Autism – A+ Back to School Drive – Partners helped this non-profit organization by providing a location, setting up and handing out school backpacks filled with school supplies to 200 children of low-income families.

NE. Louisiana Food Bank Food Drive – Partners selected products and built $5.00 bags to sell to help replenish the Food Bank. Donation bags were collected and carried to the Food Bank where partners met and sorted the products for placement on the shelves and racking.

Relay for Life – Partners teamed with teachers and coaches from Sterlington Middle School and participated in the annual Relay for Life at Monroe Civic Center. They volunteered for forty hours with the relay walk and participated in various activities and worked the food booth for their fundraiser. All funds collected were donated to the relay event.
