Have you ever tried to draw a picture of someone freehand? Unless you’re a talented artist, it’s pretty hard to do. If you’d like to show someone how much you think of them, we can draw that picture for you — more or less. Stop by the bakery and look at the photo cakes; you’ll be amazed!
Computer scanners can take a photograph and scan it into the computer and print it out so that you have a perfect copy. The bakery’s scanner can do the same thing, only it uses edible ink and starch paper. So when you bring any photograph to be scanned, the edible image is printed and transferred right onto the top of a delicious cake. Now how cool is that?!
Quarter sheet cakes are the most popular size for photo cakes. Those serve about 20 to 24 people, and cost less than $20. To be assured of the best possible service, please try to give a day or two advance notice to the bakery staff.
The largest photo you can use on a cake is 8 x 10 inches, and be forewarned: scanning the image will give you an exact copy. It can’t be cropped, airbrushed or otherwise enhanced. In other words, if it’s not a pretty picture to begin with, it won’t be any prettier once it’s scanned. Most images look best on white-frosted cakes, but feel free to discuss this with the bakery staff. Sometimes other colors will work just fine.
Copyright laws are important to respect. Our bakery staff faces stiff fines if they reproduce any photos that are copyrighted. Look at the picture you have, and if it has the © or ® symbol on it, we can’t put it on your cake.
Whether it’s an anniversary, a birthday, a family reunion, a graduation, a company event or just a fun party, consider a photo cake. After all, a picture is worth a thousand words!
