Giving Back FAQ

What kind of organizations do you support?
If you are applying for a grant, we have narrowed the applications we consider to 501(c)3 organizations that focus on health, hunger relief, education, veteran services and the wellbeing of children and their families. Our corporate donations process includes 501c organizations that support local community events in areas where we have a store. Unfortunately, we are not able to support fundraising for individuals, trips, beauty pageants, employee recognition events or other events outside of our focus areas. If you have a question about your eligibility, please email [email protected]

What are the timeline requirements to submit my application?

All donation and sponsorship requests should be submitted HERE at least 6 to 8 weeks prior to your print/media deadline or event date. Base this timeline on whichever date is soonest. The Donations Committee meets once monthly, and it could take 1-2 weeks after that meeting to have donations fully processed and sent to your local store for pick up.

Can I mail or email my application?
Because of the large number of requests we receive, we require all requests to be submitted through our Corporate Donations Application. Mail or e-mail submissions will not be considered unless they are submitted online. If you are requesting a gift card from your local store, you must submit your request on letterhead directly to the store and include your tax identification number with your request.

I have a question, who can I contact?
All questions about the status of your application or the process for applying for funding can be directed to [email protected].

May my organization solicit at one of your local stores?
We approve an extremely limited number of organizations to solicit at each of our stores. You must apply to be on our approved list by contacting your local store director. Please allow enough time for our store to communicate with the corporate office regarding your solicitation request before receiving an answer. Many stores have no approved solicitors at their location. Contact [email protected] for additional questions regarding solicitations.

Do I have to complete my application process in one sitting?
No. Once you create a username and password for one of our applications, you will be able to log in and access your in-process application and check your application status.

How will I be notified if my application is approved?
You will receive an e-mail regarding the approval or decline of your application. It will be sent to the e-mail address listed on your application. If further information is required to process your request, you may receive a message in the donations program, a phone call or e-mail prior to the committee’s decision.

How can I view the status of my application?
You may log in using the username and password that you created. If you still have questions, you can contact [email protected]. We will not be able to retrieve your login information but encourage you to use the “Lost Password?” prompt.

Why did the local store direct me to apply online?
Our local stores are equipped to help organizations in their area by donating gift cards in limited amounts. They may have recommended you apply for a corporate donation based on the amount of support you are requesting or because your organization reaches a larger market area than their local store.

I have received funding in the past. Do I have to reapply?
Yes. You must apply annually within the timetable mentioned above to be considered for support from any of our programs.

If I have received a donation from a local store in the past, can I still go directly to the store for a donation?
You may, but they will notify you if our change in policy has affected your eligibility and can direct you to the correct avenue to apply for support if they are unable to help.

Who reviews my request for support?
Brookshire Grocery Company has appointed a Donations Committee to review requests and establish guidelines for company giving programs. All final decisions are made by Executive Leadership.

How often may my organization receive help?
Our committee will consider one Corporate Donations Application annually. If you received a gift card from one of our local stores, you may still apply for a corporate donation. We support more than 160 communities in our market areas in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Oklahoma. We try to limit the number of donations per organization to ensure our support goes as far as possible each year.

My organization has a 501c tax exempt number other than (3). Is it eligible?
Possibly. There may be other factors considered in determining your eligibility and whether you are a good fit for one of our Giving Back programs.

What if I still have questions?
We are happy to help. Contact [email protected].
