Ghost Pines Cabernet Sauvignon, Winemaker's Blend, 2014 - 750 Millilitre , $19.98

42% Napa County, 35% Lake County, 22% Sonoma County. In 1964 Louis P. Martini, son of Napa pioneer Louis M. Martini, purchased 178 acres of land in the eastern hills of the Napa Valley. The Martini family developed this land into a vineyard which they named Ghost Pines as a tribute to the native grey pines which at dusk, appear to hover, solitary and ghostlike throughout the coastal valleys. Ghost Pines Cabernet Sauvignon draws from multiple winegrowing counties to create a wine as unique as the Ghost Pine itself. Layers of blackberry and dark cherry complement rich roasted vanilla, Asian spice and a nutty smoke character all surrounded by firm, integrated tannins.

Gnarly Head Cabernet Sauvignon, California, 2018 - 750 Millilitre , $9.98

Gnarly Vines aren't pretty. The twisted grapevines that give our wine its big, bold flavors have struggled and survived by digging deep. That's where the good stuff is: At the edge of what's possible. Our Cabernet grapes come fully loaded, right off the vine, with explosively rich, incredibly flavorful layers of sun-warmed black cherries, blackberries and a hint of spicy clove. This naturally intense red has the stuff to take on strong cheeses, lamb skewers and your next whole hog BBQ. www.gnarlyhead.com. (at)gnarlyheadwines. Sustainability - quality - family. Alcohol 13.5% by volume. 27 Vinted & bottled by Gnarly Head Wines, Manteca, CA.

Hilltop Cabernet Sauvignon, Paso Robles, 2007 - 750 Millilitre , $32.98

From the high point of our Paso Robles vineyards, one can view a panorama of protective hills and ranges, a position befitting our J. Lohr Hilltop Cabernet Sauvignon. We planted Clone 8 Cabernet Sauvignon on its own roots in 1989, amidst Arbuckle-San Ysidro complex fine loam soil with some calcareous clay layers underneath. The tiny berried fruit is picked mid-morning, then sorted by individual berry before being crushed into small stainless steel fermenters, and given 48 hours of skin contact. During fermentation, a combination of punch-downs and gentle pumpovers ensures an appropriate balance of extraction of color, flavor and fragrance. The wine is then pressed and undergoes malolactic fermentation before it is blended and racked into new and second-fill French oak barrels for 18-24 months of aging. Lastly, it is fined and bottled, yielding a wine which is aromatically pleasing, with deliciously intense flavors of black cherry, blackberry and toasted vanilla. Alc 14.9% by vol. Produced at Paso Robles, CA and Bottled at San Jose, CA by J. Lohr Winery.
