Ingredients
3 Tbs butter
1/4 cup all purpose flour
3 cups whole milk
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
3 cups sharp cheddar
4 cups cooked macaroni (2 cups uncooked), for serving
Directions
  1. Melt the butter in a saucepan. Stir in the flour.
  2. Cook for one minute while stirring. Whisk in the milk, salt and pepper.
  3. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat, and stir until thick.
  4. Remove from heat. Stir in the cheese until melted.
  5. Combine the cheese sauce with the cooked pasta. (This recipe makes enough sauce for 8 ounces of uncooked pasta.)
  6. Garnish each serving with desired toppings.
